Airports
Three major airports are close to the ferry ports that transport to Catalina Island:
• Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Los Angeles
• Long Beach Airport (LGB) in Long Beach
• John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana
Ferry Options
There are two ferry options to get to and from Catalina Island:
Catalina Express
Departs from San Pedro, Long Beach, Dana Point and travels to both Two Harbors and Avalon on Catalina Island.
Each passenger is allowed 2 pieces of luggage, no larger than 23”x23”x37” and weighing no more than 50 lbs each, to be stowed in the luggage compartment. In addition, each passenger may bring one carry-on that fits at the seat or in the overhead bin.
Catalina Flyer
Departs only from Newport to Avalon.
Carry-on luggage only. Only two pieces of hand-carried luggage per person. All passengers are required to carry their own luggage onto the boat and it will be put in the luggage storage area.
Ferry reservations can be made about 1-2 months before your departure, depending on which ferry you are using.
Overnight car parking ranges from $20 - $25 per night.
